Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
I am part of the furniture at CHVH. I started as a kennel assistant in 2001 and quickly decided that this was the career for me. I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2003. Since doing this I have also completed a basic training course on Dental Care, Business Management Certificate and Radiography Techniques course. I am a registered microchip implanter and a licensed radiograph assistant.
The other team members consider me the “mother” of the CHVH family. I feel that I strive to build a rapport with all of our long term and new clients. I like to make people feel comfortable about coming into the veterinary hospital. It is important to me that everyone receives caring and support, especially in difficult times.
I take on different roles within CHVH. One of these that I particularly enjoy is puppy preschool classes. I feel that it is important for puppies to have a good grounding for their integration into becoming a member of their new family. I love seeing puppies from my classes out and about enjoying special times at the beach or just out for a walk.
I like to incorporate training from a government funded program called S.P.O.T (which I volunteered with) into my puppy preschool classes. This encourages the younger members of the family about the ethical treatment of animals and how to stay safe.
These are just some of the things that I enjoy about coming to work.
When I am not looking after all our treasured patients, I like to spend time with my partner Doug, our dogs Buddy, Tia and Molly; and be harassed by my beautiful cats Sparrow, Bones, Elena and Eve. I also like to go swimming and enjoy photography. In the future I would like to travel to more far off destinations and explore the world.
